Agreement on Aeronautical Search and Rescue Cooperation and Coordination is signed

The Civil Aviation Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia organised the ceremony of signing the Agreement on Aeronautical Search and Rescue between Montenegro, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Slovenia and the Republic of North Macedonia in Ohrid.

The Agreement on Aeronautical Search and Rescue was signed by the directors general for civil aviation of the signatory states: director of the Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro, Mr Zoran Maksimovic, the director of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, Ms Mirjana Cizmarov, the director of the civil aviation authority of Slovenia, Srecko Jansa, and the director of the Civil Aviation Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia, Tomislav Tuntev

Signature of this international agreement will enable the more comprehensive and rational approach to the regional cooperation in this area, as well as simultaneous improvement of cooperation with relevant ICAO standards referred to in Annex 12 to the Chicago Convention.

Following the signing of the agreement, and having in mind that Montenegro held the presidency of RASARAC committee (Regional Aeronautical SAR Advisory Committee) in 2022, the formal surrendering of presidency over RASARAC committee for 2023 took place between the representatives of the Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro and the Civil Aviation Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia.

Currently, the RASARAC committee is consisted of 10 countries – Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Czech Republic, and umbrella organisations in civil aviation – EUROCONTROL and ICAO.
