Agreement on Coordination with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia

Montenegro, Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina expanded their cooperation through the Agreement on Coordination of aviation authorities of these States, additionally arranging acting between themselves for the purpose of more quality oversight of air navigation services.

That implies Agreement on Coordination signed today in Banja Luka by the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) of Montenegro, Ivan Šćekić, with colleagues from the Bosnia and Herzegovina Directorate of Civil Aviation (BHDCA), Zorislav Ivanović, that hosted the event, and the Civil Aviation Directorate (CAD) of the Republic of Serbia, Ognjen Babić.

The Agreement more clearly defines mutual responsibilities of national supervisory activities, mechanisms for better coordination of oversight activities and exchange of safety related information, as well as acting regarding changes to the functional system of air navigation safety provider.

The document is of particular importance for portion of airspace of Bosnia and Herzegovina where, pursuant to interstate agreement on delegating responsibilities for provision of air traffic services, Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services (SMATSA) LLC shall provide the services.

In joint oversight tasks, inter alia, results of inspections and audits of national supervisory institutions carried out by the international organisations such as ICAO and EASA shall be taken into consideration in order to ensure better coordination between themselves.

Visit of the CAA Director and Deputy Director, Ilija Anđelić, to the BHDCA management, was also an opportunity to have meeting with representatives of the aviation authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and North Macedonia.
