THE CAA DIRECTOR AND THE AMBASSADOR OF FRANCE OPENED THE TRAINING ON SAFETY MANAGEMENT TRAINING

Training on Safety Management System (SMS) at airports, conducted in cooperation of the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) with French civil aviation authority – DGAC, takes place in Podgorica in the period between 21 and 25 September 2026.

Investment in knowledge is of the utmost importance for aviation. This is the continuation of excellent cooperation between Montenegrin and French aviation authority in domain of civil aviation.

That is the message of the Agency Director, Ivan Šćekić, and the Ambassador of France in Montenegro, Cécile Humbert - Bouvier, who addressed the training participants today, which at the same time confirms the importance to be given by both parties to professional and institutional cooperation between Montenegro and France.

The training, attended by representatives of the CAA’s Airports Department, both Montenegrin airports, and several countries from the region, is being conducted with the expert support of lecturers from the French National School of Civil Aviation (École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile – ENAC). The lecturers from France are Brankica Pešić (ENAC) and Virgile Dion (DGAC).

The programme is focused on key aspects of safety management at airports, responsibilities and competences, with particular emphasis on risk and change management, safety performance and the practical implementation of the SMS.

Cooperation with French partners and ENAC represents an important contribution to further strengthening the professional capacities of Montenegro’s aviation sector and to the continuous improvement of safety standards in line with the European and international practices.

This represents another tangible outcome of the Technical Cooperation Agreement in the field of aviation between the Agency and DGAC. The CAA was also visited by a representative of the French civil aviation authorities, Jérôme Lesourd.
