With the presence of more than 1,400 representatives representing the 191 member ICAO member from September 24 to October 4, 2013 in Montreal, Canada, the 38th Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is being held. All international organizations and associations of the aviation industry joined the opening of the 38th Session of the ICAO Assembly, which meets every third year.
At this year's Assembly of Montenegro, the Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs Ivan Brajović and the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency Dragan Đurović are representing Montenegro.
This is the first time that Montenegro has its representatives at the Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), although it has been a member of this organization since 2007.
On the first day of the assembly, the Assembly chose President Michel Wachenheim and will then elect members of the ICAO Council and other bodies. In addition, the Assembly has many powers and responsibilities, among others: it considers in detail the work of the organization in technical, administrative, economic and legal areas of cooperation.
As a global forum for cooperation between countries, the ICAO sets standards for the safe and secure development of international civil aviation. ICAO activities are based on the realization of a vision for the safe, secure and sustainable development of civil aviation through the cooperation of its members.
During the session of the Assembly, Minister Brajovic and Director Djurovic held several bilateral meetings with the ministers and directors of the aviation authorities from the ICAO member states.
