
Podgorica, 30 October 2025 - The Director of the Montenegro Civil Aviation Agency, Mr. Ivan Šćekić, hosted the Ambassador of France to Montenegro, H.E. Ms. Anne-Marie Maskay, to discuss priorities in the field of aviation and cooperation with France.
Ambassador Maskay was briefed on the Agency’s work, role and achievements. She underlined the importance of the Agency’s organizational and financial independence, as the capacity to attract and retain competent staff with aviation experience is absolutely key for the sound and effective functioning of the Agency, with a view to maintaining EU standards and guaranteeing Montenegro’s airspace safety and security.
“The Civil Aviation Agency’s contribution to aligning Montenegrin regulations with EU aviation legislation, as well as to the implementation of European and international standards, is essential. The Civil Aviation Agency is a longtime partner of French aviation actors, and our shared goal is to preserve and enhance aviation safety and security,” stated the French Ambassador to Montenegro.
Director Šćekić, inter alia, highlighted the importance of cooperation with French partners, especially in the professional development of staff and the advancement of aviation safety systems.
“The support that France has provided over the years to our inspectors through training in Toulouse is a valuable contribution to strengthening knowledge, competencies, and standards,” Šćekić noted, expressing gratitude for the visit to the Agency.
The interlocutors agreed that there is room to further strengthen cooperation, particularly in the area of unmanned aircraft systems (drones), which are of importance to the Agency and the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services (SMATSA).
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Rajko Uskoković, Deputy Director of SMATSA, who emphasized the importance of institutional cooperation and the support of French partners.
