
The civil aviation authority of Montenegro is dedicated to improvement of aviation safety and security system, according to the words of the Ambassador of Germany to Montenegro, H.E. Peter Felten and the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency (CAA), Ivan Scekic.
A topic of the meeting was improvement of cooperation in part of strengthening expert capacities of the Agency, and particularly on possibility of support as regards digitalisation of certain processes for the purpose of additional enhancement of oversight function of the CAA.
Achievements in area of Chapter 14 were discussed – Traffic policy, particularly portion within the competence of the CAA, with objective of closing the significant chapter as soon as possible on the path of Montenegro to become the EU Member State.
In that context, the collocutors agreed that the future Law on Air Transport, which is subject to the pending procedure of competent institutions, should keep the organisational, staff and financial independence of the Agency.
“It is important to keep the role of the CAA as the independent regulator and oversight authority in interest of strengthening aviation safety and security”, Felten and Scekic stated
Scekic informed the Ambassador both on activities and results of work of the CAA, and on successful control missions, where the last of those were performed by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in domains of aviation personnel licencing and issuing medical certificates and by the European Commission in domain of security.
The Director of the Agency, with his associate Magdalena Vukcevic, thanked the German Ambassador and his associates for hospitality, stating that the CAA remains credible partner to the European and international partners.
