
Representatives of aviation authorities from the region, EU candidate States, had a conversation today in Podgorica on numerous common topics from the area of civil aviation and intensification of regional partnership. The Civil Aviation Agency (CAA) is host of the meeting, in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding on Mutual Cooperation.
Directors of civil aviation authorities of Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania agreed that joint planning and coordination contribute to more efficient harmonisation and application of the European and international standards.
The meeting participants discussed on coordinating activities for participation to the forthcoming International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Assembly, that will take place in Montreal in the period between 23 September and 3 October 2025 and that will gather representatives of countries from all over the world.
One of topics was coordination of activities before the next European Common Aviation Area Joint Committee (ECAA JC). This platform is of huge interest for the EU candidate States, because it represents the bridge towards complete inclusion into the European aviation system.
Continuation of training and development of professional staff was evaluated as important, as well as mutual expert support for the purpose of enabling faster exchange of knowledge and experience.
Collocutors also discussed the idea on forming international regional training centre for the civil aviation experts and for establishment of pool of experts.
The CAA Director, Ivan Scekic, with his associates, hosted Directors of aviation authorities Mirjana Cizmarov (Serbia), with associates, Zorislav Ivanovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Maksim Et’hemaj (Albania) and Dragi Stojanoski (North Macedonia).
